Facts About Gothenburg Public Schools

  • Pupil-Teacher Ratio is 13-1
  • High School Graduation Rate is consistently over 90%
  • More than 85% of the students go onto post-secondary education
  • District consistently receives "Exemplary Rating" on the State Report Card and has consistently met "Adequate Yearly Progress" in accordance with No Child Left Behind
  • We have 10 computer labs located throughout the school, as well as two mobile labs in the elementary school
  • The computer ratio is 1 computer for every 3 students
  • Two Fulbright Scholars, one National Merit semifinalist and four National Merit finalists have graduated from Gothenburg Schools
  • One totally interactive distance learning lab and two satellite distance learning labs are available
  • ACT college bound students have been above the state average for the past several years
  • Grades K-6 average Accelerated Reading scores are more than one grade level above students' current grade level
  • The school has two fully automated school libraries containing over 15,000 books and over 700 reference books
  • Approximately 180,000 meals a year are served through the school district's National School Lunch and Breakfast program, including multiple daily entrees and a full salad bar.
  • Over two-thirds of 7-12 students participate in at least one or more of the 20 activity offerings.
  • GHS has won 25 state championships including 14 in track and field and 4 in football.
